Seems like this whole limited edition thing is actually catching on. Scion is the latest car maker to jump the bandwagon, although it can be argued that they’ve been on it all this time, really who keeps track? A sexy car is a sexy car, limited edition or no. That being said, Scion has just announced that it’s limited edition tC RS 5.0 will be one of it’s features in the 2009 Chicago Auto Show.
The upgrades seem to be more on the visual side, with TRD pitching in. Nothing much has changed on the inside, it’s still patterned after the hit A-Team tv show, so expect some black and some red thrown in for good measure. TRD will be putting in some floor mats, and for that added “prestige:, a numbered badge is included in the cabin. Only 2000 of the RS 5.0 will be in production.
Now, visual upgrades are nice, that’s what this blog really focuses on, but performance upgrades need to be part of the deal if you’re going to release a limited edition and change the price tag. But hey, who knows, it might actually catch on, like the whole re-releasing of older models as “limited-edition” packages.

Continuing our cliche title post sequence is the new Limited Edition Renault Laguna Black. Now you may be thinking, why release a limited edition of an existing model with a few upgrades to the engine, new color schemes and pad a bit on the price tag while they’re at it. The answer is simple: BECAUSE IT’S SEXY!

What Renault does going for them is the various packs. This modular approach is probably to cater to the people who might want a Renault Laguna but with add-ons from the original that suite one’s driving preference. Whether it’s the speedy GT pack or the Comfort pack, their might be something would-be Laguna owners can find to suit their needs. Still, having the added specs do come at a price, but what’s surprising is that Renault didn’t go overboard, making the Reanualt Laguna Black only 200 euros more pricey than the vanilla flavored Laguna. That may be a lot of money but with all the additions to the Laguna Black, one can argue that at that price point, it’s quite a steal.

A look at the interior further proves that indeed it is SEXY! What we have here is taking a tried and tested concept i.e. the use of color black, but doing it in such a refined manner that one wouldn’t care if the damn thing is the same old crap over and over again. Why? Because as we said before: IT’S GODDAMN SEXY that’s why!
Then again, one has to wonder if the practice of releasing Limited Editions of car models is a way for car makers to make up for bad sales or give early adopters the finger.
Still, who cares, IT’S GODDAMN SEXY!
